Who: Ashland Mines aka Total Freedom, DJ and artist.

What’s on his mind today: I keep picturing a river of black oil that the sun is reflecting on so brightly you cant look at it directly. I guess its a prayer.

What he is currently working on: Scrambling to put together the data for this disc Nguzunguzu and I are getting pressed tomorrow for the tour we are going on with Gang Gang Dance next week.

With whom he would like most to go on a “ tête à tête”: Is that french? does it mean tea for two? Hold on I have to google that…oh okay…June Karamoto. I spent the evening with her band recently and she was like the CHILLEST person I’ve been around in a minute. I am a huge fan of her work.

What he considers a fashion “faux-pas”: “Realness” is a faux-pas. What is cool about reality? Unrealness should be the goal.

What kind of movement he would like to start: Extreme cosmetic surgery decisions on a whim.

What he would you like to grow old with: Four walls, a roof, lots of plants and some hairy smelly thick thing with a cool brain.

Who represents his « artistic » family: How did you know I belong to a brood? I spend a LOT of time and work a lot with artists Asma Maroof and Daniel Pineda (aka NGUZUNGUZU) and Ezra Rubin (aka Kingdom). There are others out there that I feel like I have a bloodline connection to spiritually and artistically – but (especially musically speaking) Nguzunguzu and Kindgom are the leading ladies in my life.

What he would like to leave to future generation: Uncorrupted files!
