August 2, 2012
Who: Nathan Manire
Where: New York City
What’s on your mind today?
Worrying about where my next paycheck will come from, trying to figure out what my next project will be and how I can do something new.
What are you currently working on?
I just finished creating a second portrait for Gotye’s summer tour, so trying to wrap things up with that project.
What do you think there is too much of, and too little of?
There’s too much arguing on television and less character development.
With whom would you like most to go on a tête à tête?
Either Kanye West or Gordon Ramsay, so hard to decide.
What would you do if you were POTUS?
I’d ask Die Antwoord to do all my PR and styling.
What is your most striking moment?
Probably a moment when I was on my skateboard.
What does good energy mean to you?
In a person, I think it’s just being happy and positive, not being filled with fear or doubt.
What cracks you up?
When I see an excited dog I can’t help but smiling.
What kind of movement would you like to start?
I’d like to lead a movement that empowers designers and illustrators to take more control over the advertising industry. Right now it’s run by people who only focus on money and numbers.
Who represents your artistic family?
I guess I’d go with Rothko at the moment, his approach to things really inspires me.
What would you like to leave to future generations?
Genes, wisdom, mistakes, humor, and a ton of cash.
What is your WILD Wish?
To wake up one morning and have over 100 emails.
