Born: Boulder, Colorado Lives now: New York City
What she does: Musician
Erika Spring WILD Profile

What are you currently working on?
Right this second, I’m trying to learn how to use my new (first) sampler, I want to fill it up with custom drum beats, synth & street samples, and get good at manipulating the sounds for a new dance project I have with my friend Melanie called SINCE. In addition to that, Au Revoir Simone just started recording again so I’m spending my summer days with them in our studio, and also playing some solo shows in NY, LA, SF…

What does good energy mean to you?
A clear vibration. Something which comes in to fill the empty space that is cleared out through some form of catharsis.

What do you think there is too much of, and too little of?
For me personally right now: too much subway time, not enough beach time. Also too much wondering, not enough action.

What would you be doing if you didn’t have your current occupation?
Making posters or textiles or helping my dad and step mom with the performance space/recording studio they recently opened.

What is on your life-to-do list?
Make a Bee Gees cover album

What’s your earliest memory?
Holding my little sister when she was born.

What cracks you up?
Kristin Wiig; When my boyfriend does impressions of people; When my friend and I read each others minds by accident…

What is the WILDEST situation you have ever experienced?
Being on tour has been my overall wildest experience. I wish I had kept a diary to remember all of the insane things that have happened. So many highs and lows including a night in Dublin witnessing fights, bottles being broken on heads, bouncers kicking the shit out of my friend, being vomited on (specifically on my black 100% wool tights) – and flashing forward to times in Paris, getting to perform for David Lynch at his retrospective exhibition in the most serene and beautiful art museum, Foundation Cartier, sharing a stage and recording with AIR, seeing Iceland, swimming in the blue lagoon, eating 8 course macrobiotic meals in Japan, singing to a sold out crowd in Istanbul who knew all the words to our songs… getting lost, meeting the most amazing people.

What would you like to leave to future generation?
A greater acknowledgement of the interconnectedness of all things.

What is your WILD Wish?
To figure out how to be in multiple places at the same time. It’s so hard in NYC to do everything I want to do and give what I want to all of my projects.
