WILD Profile: Ben Schetzer, Brando on the Moon
Who: Ben Schnetzer
Where he was born: New York City
Where he lives now: New York City and London
What he does: Actor
What he’s currently working on:
I just wrapped a film in London called Posh, which Laura Wade adapted from her play of the same title. The shoot was a lot of fun. The cast and entire creative team were remarkable, and I made some really great friends out of the experience. I feel like a very lucky boy to have been a part of it.
What good energy means to him:
To me, good energy is void of cynicism and self-pity. I feel a strong sense of curiosity plays an important part, and is also a healthy source of motivation. When I find myself going into an experience without an agenda or expectation of the outcome or result, I feel pretty good.
His earliest memory:
Playing with my parents’ hair.
With whom he would like most to go on a tête-à-tête:
Brando. Or Penelope Cruz.
What he considers a fashion faux pas:
My entire wardrobe.
What he cannot live without:
Theatre and my best friends.
What he thinks there is too much of or too little of:
I feel that fear is too often a source of motivation for the decisions people make, myself included, at times. At the moment, I think it’s important to take action out of a desire, enthusiasm, and curiosity to see what might happen if you do, rather than fear of what might happen if you don’t. Unfortunately that might not always be a choice, but if you’re in a lucky enough position that it is, I think desire and curiosity have limitless potential.
Too many to list.
What cracks him up:
Ben’s WILD Wish:
To be able to be involved in original, fulfilling work that has integrity and will hopefully inspire people the way certain art has inspired me. Or to go to outer space…for a tête-à-tête with Brando.
