The xx / Angels

The xx video premiere in The WILD

Almost three years have passed since The xx released their platinum-selling debut album, xx. Their second offering, Coexist, is due out in September this year and as pre-cursor they have just released the video for the track “Angels,” which will be released on July 17th.

Any worries among fans that the group may have succumbed to “Second Album Syndrome” will be temporarily quashed when they hear “Angels.” Not veering far stylistically from their previous recordings, the track is sublimely sparse with Romy Madley Croft’s vocals dancing delicately over the atmospheric bass guitar and occasional percussion provided by Jamie xx. “Angels” is impressively expansive for a song that clocks in at under three mins and will surely leave fans wanting more of the same.
