The Neighbourhood’s ‘Female Robbery’ video steals the show

Indie band The Neighbourhood’s cinematic music video for “Female Robbery” by Zach Sekuler, puts better-known bands to shame.

Filmed in all black and white, the video portrays the tumultuous home life of the young protagonist and her feuding parents. She is caught in between (what appears to be) their looming divorce, finding solace in a journal. The video is simultaneously understated and melodramatic, complete with Frank Miller-esque floating text and film noir overtures.

Though it’s not the cuddliest music video ever made, it certainly makes an impression. It won’t be long before these guys blow up huge, but you can say ‘you knew them when’… You’re welcome.
