The Holy Mother of Pop Celebrates 54 years of Pussy Power

Madonna turns 54 today, proving two things will never go out of style: Great arms and political activism.

The queen of reinvention, and original ‘material girl’ shows no signs of retiring, or giving up her crusade for equality and peace.

As an involved political activist, Madge has been a voice for human equality for over 30 years. As a leader of sex-positivity, Madonna showed women that they could take charge of their sex lives and not feel guilty about it. She has also spoken out against homophobia. Even though she is by all accounts on top of her game, she still roots for the political and social underdog, and uses her influence to promote worthy causes.

Most recently, she has voiced her support for Pussy Riot by donning the band’s trademark balaclava  and the words “Pussy Riot” scrawled across her back at a recent Moscow concert. Madonna is quoted in saying she was “praying for (Pussy Riot band members’) freedom,” and commended them on doing “something courageous. She also handed out pro LGBT wrist bands at her recent concert in St. Petersburg. While homophobic propaganda is outlawed in Russia, the country is far from progressive on gay rights.  

So The WILD wants to say- Thanks Madonna, and Happy 54th Birthday. You don’t look a day over 35.
