TARA SINN’S SALAD DAYS

by: Mia Kim

Those were the days, the salad days, a time of wrinkle-free innocence marked with the enthusiasm and idealism which too often fades with age. The leafy green expression is the title of Tara Sinn‘s new show at Family, probably the best indie bookstore-cum-gallery in Los Angeles. New York-based Sinn, a multimedia artist well versed in collage, video and GIF animation, possesses the kind of twisted humor that makes you laugh when you feel like you maybe shouldn’t.

Incorporating her fondness for the nostalgic and somewhat absurd, Sinn’s prints, sculptural works and video for “Salad Days” explore ancient Greek ideals, effects of time, and how nothing, especially youth, really lasts forever. A complimentary risograph poster will be available at the show’s opening on January 10 from 6-9 p.m.
