Sophie Delafontaine on the Longchamp Woman

Sophie Delafontaine is the Artistic Director of Longchamp and the granddaughter of the brand’s founder, Jean Cassegrain. We were excited to be able to catch up with Sophie on the LePilage handbag’s 20th anniversary and get a better sense of the Longchamp woman, the success of the Le Pilage and the exceptional collaborations. Sophie has been the mastermind behind numerous artist collaborations including Jeremy Scott and most recently Sarah Morris, lending a colorful and geometric patterns to the typically monochrome bags. We spoke to Sophie in Longchamp’s Madison Avenue location about being a woman in a company that was originally targeted for men and carrying on the Longchamp legacy, one beautiful bag at a time.
