Replica, A Fragrance Collection by Maison Martin Margiela

Each season since 1994, Maison Martin Margiela has released a Replica collection of shoes, clothing and accessories, with the goal of achieving timelessness. The definition of replica is a, “reproduction of familiar scents and moments of varying locations and periods.” Margiela has created two of these simultaneously ephemeral and enduring moments this season, one for men and one for women.

The first scent, titled At The Barber’s,  is inspired by memories of his father, specifically in Madrid in 1992. As its title suggests, it evokes, “a masculine, vintage ritual,” containing hints of lavender, leather, and soap bubbles found around the bathroom.

The female scent, Tea Escape, invites you on a journey to Tokyo, inspired by perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin’s experience at a traditional Japenese tea ceremony. Tea Escape incites the age-old Japanese tradition, using green tea, jasmine, and bergamot to create “a fragrance of contrast” which presents these ancient ingredients in a modern fashion.
