This past weekend near Santiago de Compostela, Spain, wild horses were rounded up and wrestled to the ground as part of the Rapa das Bestas. Their manes were sheared and the animals were branded. The 400 year old tradition happens to coincide with the running of the bulls in Pamplona, and while animal rights advocates vocally oppose bull fighting, far less attention is paid to these wrestling matches.
