Matthew Stone’s Intoxicating “Armed Venus”
The new alliance between music and fashion [...]
A ring bearer gazing at street art. A bride and groom kissing in a pool. A young girl standing in a room and on the beach. They may not make sense at first glance but these photographs are taken in two different places for the collaboration People vs. Places.
Stephanie Bassos takes photos of people on a full roll of exposed 35mm film. Timothy Burkhart then takes that same film roll and photographs only places and locations.
The results are brilliant, mind-bending photographs. Sometimes the two miraculously match up. But even when a woman is paralleled with the ground instead of the mountains, it makes for a great image.
On the pair’s Tumblr they explain: “This double exposure project allows us to step back from having full control of the image making process and trust in one another while allowing coincidences to happen naturally on film.”
