Genetic Denim Wants You to “Be You”
The brand Genetic Denim has always focused [...]
It seems like it’s a good time to be young in rap right now. While the majority of the Western world is seeing huge levels of youth unemployment and students are racking up unprecedented amounts of debt, there are a lucky few young guns who are bucking the trend and really falling on their feet. Maybe it’s the effects of the increasingly media savvy “Tumblr Generation” who can “like,” “reblog” and generally fawn over their favorite stars and spread the love globally in record-breaking time. Or, possibly, the negativity of the economic situation is resulting in a genuine spurt of young talent in hip-hop right now. Either way, fans are getting hyped over acts like Odd Future, Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky and seem ever-thirsty for new talent to blog about.
Dominic Lord may not be a name you’re familiar with, but that’s all about to change. At eighteen years old, the former designer in the A$AP Mob has smoothly moved into a solo recording career and has already started to turn music industry heads. Now he’s got a rather aesthetically pleasing Aram Bedrossian-directed video, which works as a great introduction to this rising talent. The quality doesn’t just end with the video, as the accompanying track, “Pierce” is produced by heavyweight beat-maestro Hudson Mohawke. With major labels knocking at his door, it’s only a matter of time before we see Dominic Lord playing a befallen president alongside a beautiful pop starlet. Until then, enjoy the sights and sounds of “Pierce.”
