Another week, another brilliant video from a Stones Throw artist. This time it’s Mayer Hawthorne bringing the good vibes with the official video for his saucy R&B/pop joint, “No Strings.”
Surrounded by a bevy of [sometimes awkward-looking] beauties, the ever-dapper Hawthorne sings about how all he wants is a night of no-strings-attached fun. Avoiding potential chauvinism, the mood is kept jovial and the video very tongue-in-cheek and self aware. There are cheeky references to the kind of R&B videos that may take themselves a bit too seriously, which is definitely not something Hawthorne can be accused of.
“No Strings” is a fresh take on a timeless sound that fits in perfectly with the rest of the tracks on Mayer Hawthorne’s fantastic 2011 album, How Do You Do.
