Craft Spells / Nausea

Craft Spells, the project of California-grown Justin Vallesteros, have released a .gif-heavy music video to accompany the title track from the band’s latest album, Nausea.

Screen Shot 2014-07-14 at 9.08.17 PM

Composed entirely of black-and-white frames, the video was created by visual artist Colin McFadyen, who layered .gifs with his hand-draw images to create a constantly pulsating stream of shapes, each form seamlessly morphing into another to take us on a mesmerizing trip. Although devoid of narrative, the clip’s changing textures and series of erasures and flowering designs—often coming together to resemble an abstract painting—are enough to draw us in for all four-and-a-half minutes.
