MNEK Keeps It Fresh

Where he was born: Lewisham
Where he lives now: Catford
What he does: Singer/songwriter/producer/hummer

What he’s currently working on:
Lots of studio, lots of writing, lots of nail biting, lots of bedroom vibing.

If he were a sound, he would probably be:
A synth solo.

His favorite producers to work with:
I usually do my own production but when I don’t, it’s either Rudimental or Duke Dumont.

What good energy means to him:
When someone can twerk without stopping for a minute. How about that for good energy?

What he thinks there is too much of, and too little of:
Too much hating, not enough luuurrrvv.

With whom he would like most to go on a tête à tête:
Jourdan Dunn.

If he could see broad social change in one aspect, it would be:
Discrimination regarding sexuality. I can relate. It’s boring now. Some people like the same sex, it’s not your life.

This makes him smile:
Good music, good food, sexy people. Oh and when I get a fresh haircut. I think I’m happiest when I’ve just gotten a haircut. Nothing can remotely kill my vibe when I’ve gotten my hair cut.

The first record he bought with his own money:
Nina Sky “Move Ya Body

Heavy Rotation:
Rudimental “Waiting All Night
Lulu James “Closer
Kaytranada “Your Girl

Where he goes to be alone:
My bedroom.

Who he considers style icons:
Kanye West and Will Smith.

His favorite person in the world:
Myself. It has to be. If it’s anyone else, it ain’t right. Favouritism stems from within, I say.

To be a fricking icon, with everyone knowing who I am, and singing my songs and pronouncing my name right.
