Kate Neckel and the Pursuit of Art

The world is Kate Neckel’s oversized sketchbook. From textiles to murals, her unique doodle-style art is inspiring and inextinguishable. She’s worked with the likes of Zac Posen and David Byrne, studying all over the world. She’s also been comissioned for murals at locations like Hudson Studios and Ace Hotel. Her need to create transcends any one medium: walls, pillows, napkins — she can’t be stopped. We asked Kate a couple of questions and let her answer in the way truest to her art.

Did you always know you were going to pursue art?

What’s one thing you learned from your time assisting David Byrne?

What do you do when you feel stuck?

Who’s your biggest inspiration?

Where are you most inspired?

What’s your most striking moment?

Where’s your favorite spot in NYC?

What changes have you seen in the NYC art-scene?

What is your goal for your upcoming book?

What’s your WILD Wish?

Keep an eye out for her book, available on August 4th
