In true high-fashion, party-girl style, ruffles abound in Giambattista Valli’s fall 2012 couture collection. With a plethora of floral motifs, from prints, to appliqués, to intricately layered flounces, Valli evokes the intangible charm of a whimsical fairy-tale. Straight from the lavish imagery of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, delicate veils and smatterings of butterflies cover models’ heads. A palette of sumptuous red, plush pink, and various shades of green support the chimerical succession of feminine, extravagant looks which flawlessly converge in an opulent fall collection reminiscent of a bucolic, mythical fairyland.
