Excavate Ryan Duffin’s Photographic Geologies

New York based photographer Ryan Duffin mixes and matches the simplicities of the monochrome and textured surfaces to bring our attention to the accidental color masterpieces in the world around us. A rock taken out of its context can quickly look like an astral object – and make us look up. It’s a question of noticing the subtleties. A ping pong table, if looked at from the right angle, can look like part of a set for a high fashion magazine.

Duffin takes elements that we usually take for granted and changes their nature, and in the process, their function. Each photographed object takes on a different life, grows into something new, and successfully manages to elevate the mundane to  a whole new level.
