On Tuesday May 21 I attended the industry opening of The Modern Life Concept House, presented by Elle Décor Magazine. The Concept House is located in a modest townhouse, The Dillon at 425 West 53rd Street.
The space for the next few weeks will play host to some of the coolest ideas in home décor. Eight of the foremost Interior Designers collaborated with countless brands and vendors to create not only a great environment but, inspire. The Master Bedroom was for me, I found to be the most visually stimulating, curated by Christopher Coleman. Ultra saturated basic color schemes which overall took inspiration from the Memphis group made for a fun interpretation of what might otherwise be home to neutrals.
Katie Leede designed the Bedroom and bathroom which I found more stimulating in terms of materiality. Leede, who recently launched a line of linens creatively featured her wares on every inch of the space including the ceiling. Other spaces include the Great Room,Laundry Room, Sitting Room an Outdoor Terrace.
So head uptown and checkout the space it is sure to inspire your next home décor project. Tickets are available via the Elle Décor/Modern Life Concept House. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Free Arts NYC. For more information visit www.freeartsnyc.org.
