Premiere: Go On A 3-D Animated Tropical Getaway with Douchka’s ‘Together’
Start your week off with some inspiration courtesy of French electronic artist Douchka, whose gorgeous, gilded video for “Together” is premiered here. Against cozy, swooning production, guest vocalist Clarens adds extra warmth that will appeal to fans of Flume and Blood Orange. This blend of synthetic and organic takes center stage in the eye-catching clip, directed by Les Gentils Garçons. Glossy 3-D figures burst into bloom, chronicling a relationship from its bright beginnings to brain-breaking end.
“Directly inspired by the sparkling, playful, and elegant sounds of Douchka, Les Gentils Garçons mix freshness with mastery, purity, and lightness,” the Parisian production team says in a translated statement. “The project revolves around surrealist objects, inspired by the universe of pop sculpture. Creating these items in full 3-D references geek culture, tinged with a healthy dose of pop. Plastic textures and bright colors are placed alongside shining chrome and gold. Through the ‘Together’ video, the viewer explores animated pictures composed of objects fused together to create strikingly graphic visuals. A simple idea serves as the common theme: to universally illustrate a love story in a few tableaux of Meet/Sex/Love/Hate.”
From the tropical color palette to the high production value, “Together” has one of the most memorable music videos of the year so far. It’s the title track from the Rennes-based producer’s latest EP, out now on Nowadays Records. Watch “Together” above and follow Douchka on Facebook and Twitter for more.
