Get Low With Daddy Issues On ‘The Bruise’

There’s a fine line between restless and reckless, and Daddy Issues weave back and forth across it on “The Bruise,” premiered here. The grunge-loving Nashville trio chronicles a rejection-fueled bender on this cut from their upcoming cassette release Can We Still Hang, the kind where caring too much quickly gives way to not caring about much else. (Sad girl problems, am I right?)

“The Bruise” is appropriately dark and sludgy for a band that calls itself “witch rock,” with searing guitar and a chugging bassline that keeps things steady when the song’s narrator is anything but that. “Nothing matters at all because I don’t matter to you” is precisely the feeling that leads to plenty of late nights and loaded looks, and Daddy Issues are ready to soundtrack all of your 4am freak-outs.

Can We Still Hang is out June 30 on Infinity Cat and is part of the label’s Cassette Series subscription, curated by Casey Weissbuch. Listen to “The Bruise” below and follow Daddy Issues on Facebook and Twitter for more.
