Oh Carine Roitfeld, how we love thee, let us count the ways…
We don’t know if it’s her pension for wearing all black, her smudged up eyeliner, or the fact that she is the definition of a Femme Fatale, but Carine Roitfeld is a WILD Magazine fashion favorite. While Anna Wintour was busy reviving the fur industry (yuck) and playing the diplomat at American Vogue, Roitfeld was commissioning S&M themed shoots and building a cult following at French Vogue.
Since her questionable “break-up” with Conde Nast in 2010, Roitfeld has been working on her own “irreverent” new CR Fashion Book which hits newsstands today!
Even with rumors that Conde Nast forbid big time photographers and models to work with Carine, some industry heavy-hitters like Lady Amanda Harlech, Tom Ford and Karl Lagerfeld have pitched in. The book is being published under Visionaire, the company responsible for V Magazine and VMAN Magazine. Roitfeld said each issue will feature different contributors, or as she calls them, “special guests.”
Featuring Kate Upton holding baby chicks on the cover, CR Fashion book’s inaugural issue’s theme is “birth” Roitfeld has said she was inspired by the birth of her grandchild, and also her personal “rebirth.” CR Fashion book marks a new start in her fashion career, and I am excited to see where it goes!
