Mermaid Three

Beauty is a relative term, especially when it comes to the throws of the art world; each defending their aesthetics like the wounded solider pleading for their far away country. Beauty is found in the classic sense, in a rose or a woman or a sunset, or it is found in the absence of, in the thorns, in the tears, in the darkness. It is hardly found in between. Collage artist Eugenia Loli, however, has a rare talent for mashing up those dark and light moments, pairing nature with destruction, the beauties with the outcasts. Loli creates grotesque beauty by pairing unlikely vintage advertisements, models and travel destinations together, expanding our concept of where beauty lies.
