ALT-J / Fitzpleasure
by: Kim Wilson
In a week that has a seen a deluge of fantastic music videos, Alt-J continues the trend with a clip for the track “Fitzpleasure” from their debut album An Awesome Wave.
The video, directed by Guillaume Cagniard, sees the band dressed as choir boys surrounded by scantily-clad ladies in mesh and rope, accompanied by a man with a clear predilection for tattoos.
The cut showcases the quartet’s folk-come-indie spirit with a mix of styles and tempos, such as turbulent guitar riffs and garbled vocals. This sound has won them great praise over the last year including a Mercury Prize nomination (for the Breezeblock video), as well as charting at #19 in the UK album charts. The song has already been remixed by the likes of The Internet, Odd Future and Jim from My Morning Jacket.
