Act Like a Tourist, Look Like a Local with Soundwalk’s Audio Tours

by: Kate Messinger

There’s a new age of tourism and it doesn’t include a book, a guide, or a fanny pack. In fact, these tours might make you more than a local, they’ll make you an expert.

Soundwalk‘s audio focused city tours are available for 9 cities with more on the way and  can be downloaded directly to your iPhone, but it’s more than just a regular audio tour of the sights, Soundwalk is a neighborhood experience. Walk through the Bronx on a hip hop tour, narrated by Def Jam Records co-creator Jazzy Jay or explore the streets of Saint-Germain in Paris and follow the story of a young girl intrigued by a mysterious french musician.   And if you’re already in Paris, how about a Di Vinci Code Soundwalk through the Louvre?

The tours take you to from local cafes to historic alleyways, integrating the sounds of the city with a captivating narrative, creating a sensory experience beyond a normal guided tour or guidebook suggestion. Best of all, you’ll blend right in with the city, listening as you walk, following the pdf map on your phone: no one will ever know you’re a tourist.

Soundwalk lets you explore a bunch of New York city neighborhoods in a whole new way, even if you live there, like a Williamsburg Hasidic tour or a flashback to early 70′s tour of Times Square. And if walking isn’t your style, take a run with the Puma city running guides through New York, Paris, Berlin or London.

Soundwalk has created the soundscapes for numerous fashion shows including Chanel and Louis Vuitton, art installations and museum audio tours that transport a space into a story, a visual experience into an auditory journey. Download all the tours here
