A Still Portraiture by Molly Matalon

When you look through your old yearbook photos, you’ll find the stale photo of a memory. Neutral backgrounds and horrible outfits, with a fake smile on your face. Molly Matalon decides to switch it up by giving us portraits in vivid environments, drawing us in with their unusual subjects and jarring color blocks. Her work goes in tandem with some elements of natural environments: still lives next to the portrait of her mother. A colorful wall next to a photo of a man in a hectic scene. All these images take place in desolate environments, letting us forget for a minute about the rush of the city and focus on the endless calm of color.
